Gosforth Schools had an amazing week at the National schools squash championship finals at Edgbaston Priory squash club in Birmingham last week.

The Gosforth Academy Keystage 3 girls finished 6th, their Keystage 4 girls were runners up, their Keystage 4 boys won bronze medals in third place and the Academy keystage 5 girls matched their Keystage 4 school mates with a runners up spot.

Pride of place, though , went to the Keystage 3 team from Gosforth Trust ( Gosforth Central Middle and Gosforth East Middle combined ). The team of Lucy Ulyatt, Freya Finnemore, Meera Jatania, Alice Pearsall, Hannah Tufton and Elizabeth Muldoon Smith beat the no. 2 seeds, Sevenoaks from Kent in the quarter final, the no. 4 seeds, Epsom College from Surrey in the semi final and then they pipped the no. 1 seeds and defending champions Bedford Modern from London in the final to bring the title back to Gosforth.

All 30 juniors that represented the Gosforth Schools at Birmingham started playing squash as a result of our schools outreach work.
