Minutes of the Boldon Cricket and Squash Club Executive Meeting held on 8th January 2024

1 - ATTENDANCE

2 - APOLOGIES

3 - MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

4 - MATTERS ARISING

5 - TREASURER

  • Current Account - £23,985.

  • Deposit Account - £20,125.

  • Books closed at the end of year with through £27,000. Sales are up, income is £270,000. Costs are ebbing and flowing from last year.

6 - BAR

  • Floor in Gents toilet is done; state of the floor in the old kitchen to be monitored.

  • Old pool table to be disposed of.

  • New bar furniture to be chosen at end of meeting.

  • Provisional bookings made for wreath making; JK to discuss with Zoe.

  • Sports Hub - JK still to contact Dave Leonard.

  • BT phone upgrade to start on 9th Jan 2024.

  • New glass washer has been bought for the function room, to be fitted.

  • Heating in the function room still an ongoing issue.

  • New TV is to be bought for the bar.

  • Stocktake has been done.

  • Staffing - An issue has arisen with Saturday evening bar staff. Discussion followed and a rota was suggested. CE volunteered to cover the shift in the short term. GS also volunteered. Holidays for last year are still to be taken as only half can be carried across. Discussion needed. Can we buy their holidays to keep finances straight?

7 - MAINTENANCE LIST

  • Received a quote for new ceiling tiles in squash corridor (£575). KF has repaired flooring.

  • The list is to be managed in-house. Lights in the function room should be LED. Must try and keep on top of repairs. Discussion followed. Tiles, lights and painting to be done in function room from January.

  • Suggestion to replace concrete blocks down the drive with horizontal wooden posts in an attempt to keep cars off the grass. List to be added to next month.

8 - CRICKET

  • Winter nets for juniors and seniors are to start this week. New nets could be in place for this season. Need to agree on where to build them.

  • Family services have been contacted regarding their use of the cricket pitch.

9 - SQUASH

  • Winter leagues are restarting this week.

  • Team Challenge started after the handicap competition in December. 1st team beat the 4th team in the final.

  • 3 Racket Challenge was played in between Christmas and New Year.

  • England Squash subscriptions to change; money to come from individuals. Looking at how to best manage this.

  • There is no viable option to provide extra space in the men's changing room, therefore Colin Dumble erected shelving to take bags from the floor area.

  • A quote is being sought to fix the water ingress into the squash courts.

10 - MEMBERSHIPS

  • No new members

11 - AOB

  • A rep would like a meeting to discuss discounted card machine.
