Minutes of last meeting
The date of the Club Championships is confirmed as 23rd-28th April, with the Presentation Night on 28th April.
All other matters arising were dealt with as main agenda items.
Following a number of e mails from a parent expressing concerns regarding both access to and quality of coaching at the club, the committee spent considerable time in discussion. It was agreed that Clive Lucas and Tim Barker would arrange to meet with the parent(s) to try to ascertain what their requirements were. Clive and Tim would then report back to the Committee at the next scheduled meeting.
Clive reported that he had received an invoice to cover members and 4 courts. Richard and Dave have updated the database of players on the website which should include all team and competitive players. This will be a pre-requisite for second half of the county team league fixtures.
Ladies coaching will recommence in January 2018 on a Friday at 11am and will be provided by Derek Collins. During his 6 week absence at the end of February it will be supervised by Clive.
Team Squash 2017-2018
Dave reported that the Northern 3rd team was struggling due to injury.
Membership 2017-2018/Members’ Open Meeting
Membership remains healthy will capacity for a small number of new members.
It was agreed to hold an open meeting on 15th February, 2018. The suggested format of the meeting was that Allan would chair the meeting accompanied by Roger and Tim and that questions from members be requested in advance. However, questions would also be taken from the floor. Subjects suggested for the agenda included the Club Championships, junior squash, the wider relationship of the squash section within Northern FC, Safeguarding. It was proposed and agreed to devote most of the January meeting to preparation for the open meeting.
Sarah encouraged everyone to complete their safeguarding training and DBS application where applicable. It was seen as a necessity that all checks and training be complete by the open meeting. This led to a wider discussion of Safeguarding policies within the club as a whole, including businesses using the premises.
