Northern FC Squash Committee Meeting
Tuesday 18th April, 2017

Matters arising from previous Minutes
• RT and SB to produce biographies for club website committee page.
All other matters were dealt with as main agenda items.
There are 40 entrants to the main draw, giving A and B draws of 16 and a C event of 8 players, and 8 ladies entrants. The racketball had 6 entrants, who will play a round robin event on 2 courts, with the highest scoring 2 players then playing a final. There were 15 pairs entered into the doubles. The format will be 3 groups of 5 pairs, with the winners of each group plus the highest scoring runners up going forward to a semi-final. Derek Collins will act as Tournament Director, with Richard Vitty deputising on Tuesday. The draws and seedings were to be completed by Derek Collins and Richard Vitty on 18th April.

• JC to act as Tournament Director’s assistant, gofer, dog’s body.
Derek Collins then left the meeting.
Presentation Night Planning
There are currently 45 tickets sold for the Presentation Evening, with an anticipated final number of approximately 60.
Dave gave a report on the current standings of the Northern teams.
Northern 1- 4th Premier Division – qualifying for Northumbria Cup.
Northern 2- Runners up in Division 1- promoted and in the semi-finals of League Cups.
Northern 3 – 8th in Division 1- likely to be relegated.
Northern 4- 6th in Division 3.
Northern 5- 8th in Division 4- likely to be relegated.
Northern 6- 9th in Division 5 - relegated.
Northern Junior 1 - 5th in Division 1.
Northern Junior 2 - 6th in Division 5.
Northern Ladies 1B- 4th in Premier Division qualifying for the Northumbria Cup.
Northern Ladies 1A- 5th in Premier Division.
Northern Ladies 3- 2nd in Division 1- promoted and in semi-finals of the League Cups.
The club will field 2 mixed teams in the Summer Leagues- a junior team playing on a Wednesday night and managed by Kevan Mahoney and an adult team playing on a Thursday night and managed by Dave North.
There were further concerns regarding collection of team fees, in particular when the Ladies 3rd team were either unable to field a full team or when their opponents failed to do so. This issue will be addressed before the beginning of the next season.
The end of season County Presentation Night will take place on the 13th May at Tynemouth Squash Club.
Executive/ finance committees
Allan Curry is to attend the Finance committee meeting on 16th May.
The committee had received a suggestion from a member to run an over 50s or over 55s league. This was seen as a very positive suggestion and worthy of investigation and further discussion for possible implementation at the start of the winter leagues.
Clive reported that investigation of the issue with the men’s changing room floor was now under way.
Any Other Business
Sarah suggested that the club may be eligible for funding for equipment through the Sainsbury Active Kids Vouchers.
Membership Renewal will commence on 1st of May, members will have 31 days to renew before membership is opened to those on the waiting list.
