Northern Squash Committee Minutes
Monday 16th January

Matters arising from previous Minutes
Ladies coaching-in the absence of RV, Julie reported that the new session had started with 12 ladies paying £3 per session.
Wazygoose bookings/lights-Wayne has produced an “exclusion block” to allow Sarah/Gi to prevent booking of courts when they intend to open the club at a later time than usual.
Sarah and Allan agreed to review the current safeguarding policy of the club and compile a report with recommendations for improvement in September.
All other issues were dealt with as main agenda items.
Gosforth Classic/PSA event
There was agreement from the members of the committee who either took part in or attended as spectators that this had been a successful, well run tournament. Clive reported that he planned to meet with Cai Younger on Wednesday 18th January to review the tournament.
This event was very successful, making a profit of £120. On behalf of the committee, Clive thanked Dave, Sarah and Julie for their efforts in its organisation.
Dave and Sarah have agreed to run a Club Night for 2 months, excluding 18th Feb and 18th March, on a Saturday evening from 5pm to 7pm aimed at new adult members of 21 years and above and at a charge of £2 per player per session.
Off peak court usage/database
It was felt that it would be useful to circulate members who play off peak on weekdays with a list of other players to allow them to arrange matches.
Dave reported that on a number of issues surrounding the rules regarding team nominations and points deductions. Whilst it was felt that the intention to prevent teams playing “ringers” was worthy, concerns were raised that the new rules were too inflexible to be fair. Dave will raise the committee’s concerns at the County AGM.
Executive/ finance committees
Allan will attend the Finance Committee Meeting on Wednesday 19th January. Clive will attend the Executive Committee Meeting on Tuesday 24th January.
Concerns continue to be raised about the condition of the floor of court 4 and spaces appearing in the floor of court 1.The radiator controls have been tampered with.
For inclusion in the Summer maintenance programme:-
Repairs to courts 1&4 floors.
Decoration of men’s changing room.
Glass Doors for courts 2,3&4.
To send the scoreboard to be painted.
