Minutes of the Boldon Club Executive Committee Meeting held on 9th May 2023

1 - ATTENDEES

3 - MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

Agreed

4 - MATTERS ARISING

Authentication Card now working for on-line banking.

5 - TREASURER

  • Current account is nearly £16k and Deposit account £9k.

  • The club has has 2 good weekends in a row. Functions have been busy and Sundays have been busy with bingo.

6 - BAR

  • New tables and chairs have been donated for the function room.

  • Club notices, adverts and information are to be on screen, (in lounge area).

  • A jobs list is needed to consider how to smarten/tidy up the outside space for the summer. Need to organise a tidy up day with skip hire to decide what needs to be Kept; Thrown away; Sold.

  • Bar staff - Sam Ellison is trying to recruit for the summer.

  • Parking needs to be reviewed in both areas. Move the covers and apply wood chippings to allow some parking on the grass.

7 - CRICKET

  • After a bad start to the season, where games were cancelled due to rain, 1st team have won both games so far. They beat Brandon who were top last year.

  • Membership is 95, including juniors, about £2,600 transferred.

  • The Crowdfunder is progressing well. Sport England will donate 30% of target as we have fulfilled criteria.

  • The Bongo Bingo event has been postponed until later in the summer.

8 - SQUASH

  • Squash section have had a great season with 3 teams promoted (3rd team won their play-off).

  • Membership total is 187 which is above pre-covid numbers.

  • £161 memberships and £1192 court bookings for April.

  • Summer leagues will run from June to August, 2 teams entered.

  • 50th Anniversary tickets are printed and posters are up. Previous members to be invited.

  • Refurbishment of ladies changing room is due to start.

  • The broken sign is to be fixed.

  • The ceiling above courts 1 and 2 to be fitted with more insulation to retain heat as per courts 3 and 4.

9 - MEMBERSHIPS

No new members known at this time but need to liaise with Anthony Brown who runs the app.

10 - AOB

  • General consensus is that the new entry doors are excellent and the new carpet looks great.

  • Big wall in function room has been painted by MM.

  • Thank you to George Ellison for fixing the blinds.

  • White seat covers were given to the club by wedding party (room hire fee waived in return). Discussion needed on how to advertise them for functions.

  • Squash are interested in the YouTube live feed set up by the cricket section.

  • Brewery will be supplying umbrellas for outside use.
